Perchoir — your coding agents, from the iPhone
You started three agents on the Mac and left. One of them is waiting for an answer. Perchoir re-attaches your iPhone to those same sessions: you read where they are, you answer, you move on. Nothing runs on the phone. It watches, and it talks.
Available on the App Store. Perchoir is free, no account, no subscription. You need iOS 17 or later, and a Mac running Fauconnier to have something to look at.
Download on the App StoreWhat it is, and what it is not
A coding agent lives in a tmux session, not in a window. That is the decision Fauconnier is built on: an agent started on a server, or on your Mac with “resumable sessions” on, keeps going when you close the lid. From there, the device doing the looking stops mattering.
Perchoir is that look. It is an SSH client that re-attaches to the fauconnier-* sessions the Mac opened. It starts no agent, keeps nothing, and has no server of ours behind it. Close the app: the agent carries on where it is.
- The session list, with each agent's state: working, waiting for you, done.
- The focus view: the agent's terminal as it is, colours and scrollback included. Type into it if you want.
- The canvas: the same windows as on the Mac, arranged for a phone screen.
- Hermès, a chat thread with an agent: you write, it replies, without opening the terminal.
- Voice, optional: an orb you press and hold to talk to your agents. Off by default, it turns on with your own key (OpenAI or xAI), and the app shows what each minute costs.
Set it up in three moves
- On the Mac, open Settings › General › Sharing and turn on Remote Login. Without it there is nothing to re-attach to.
- In Fauconnier, Settings › Perchoir › Show pairing QR. The Mac makes a key dedicated to the phone, authorises it, and draws the QR. Removing the
perchoir@fauconnierline from your authorised keys revokes the phone. - On the iPhone, Settings › QR icon, and scan. Hosts, key, the Mac's fingerprints: one scan sets it all. The QR carries a private key: scan it, hide it, never photograph it.
For agents started on the Mac itself to show up on the phone, also turn on Fauconnier › Resumable sessions (tmux). Remote agents already are. If the Mac has Tailscale, the QR carries that address too: Perchoir finds it away from home Wi-Fi.
No Mac at hand? Demo mode
In Settings › Machines, add a machine whose short name is exactly demo. Perchoir then replays a recorded session through the same path as real ones: list, focus, canvas, voice, everything behaves as with a machine. Nothing is contacted. Delete the host and the app is back to normal.
What it costs
Perchoir is free, like Fauconnier. No licence, no trial, no account, and the code stays closed. Voice, if you turn it on, is billed by the provider you pick, on your key, at their listed rate. We take nothing on the way and we sell no credits.
Where your data goes
The phone talks to your Mac, over SSH, and to nobody else. The private key lives in the iOS keychain. No password is stored. Voice stays off until you have set a key and switched on “Drive by voice”; after that, only the audio of the pressed orb, and what you ask it to read, goes to the provider you chose. Dictation in the text field is Apple's, on device where the language allows. Details are on our privacy page.
Feedback, a bug?
What helps most: knowing whether QR pairing holds on your network, whether re-attaching survives lifts and tunnels, and whether voice stays useful one-handed. A review on the App Store, or a note through the contact page, and we fix it.
Perchoir needs a Mac. Fauconnier opens, arranges and drives your coding agents; Perchoir hands them back to you in your pocket. Free on the Mac, free on the phone.
